A Bump In The Night

"It’s okay. I’ve seen….well, nothing quite like that, but..bad enough." Granted she hadn’t ever seen a monster like that, much less one that threatened her and her family.

At least it was gone now.

His mention of ‘good Aswangs’ drew her attention and one of her eyebrows arched slightly. After seeing the one she’d just barbecued, she couldn’t imagine it…but she supposed he’d know more about it than she did.  ”That’s…good.”

Keeping up with him and focusing on the here and now - making sure not to stumble over debris or loose boards - she pulled at her ripped coat, trying to check out her side. It didn’t feel like she’d been bitten or anything, but she knew from experience that in a high stress situation, you didn’t always feel the injuries first off. “I don’t think so…” She exhaled a deep breath, steadying her nerves - trying to. “I can’t really tell, but I think it just got my coat.”

"Good." Hellboy said with some relief in his voice. "The last thing you’d want is one of those things bitin’ ya." He gave her a half glance. "It ain’t pretty."

Hellboy never noticed how quickly he got sick of that building until he found himself feeling glad to be outside. Then he realized that he didn’t know where Alice lived. “Hey, uh, I meant to ask, you got a safe place to be? I can walk you there considering what just happened.” Noticing her ripped coat reminded him that he said he would fix it.

"I believe you." She grimaced at the idea of being bitten by one of those things, as she followed him out to the sidewalk. It was hard to imagine it’d be any better than it’s threat of wanting to eat her.

It felt surprisingly safe, walking in the dim shadow of his tall thick form. She still didn’t really know him, but Hellboy had proven already that he knew how to take care of himself, that he was fighting for the right side. When he spoke to her, she glanced up, blinking for a half second at his yellow eyes, before he brain caught up. “Oh, yeah. I live a few blocks away.” A smile touched one side of her mouth, curls falling over her face as she gestured, pointing down to the left. “That way, towards the lake.”

A Galaxy Far Away

"Mmm, yeah, I remember." She grinned, snuggling up to his side.

As they watched the droids make there way over the sand dunes, she couldn’t help thinking that it looked like a nice place to roll around. The hot sand would feel good on her skin, plus a wonderful exfoliant. That idea made her grin a little, but she nodded. “Does look like thirsty work.” She chuckled.

"You want a drink?" She smiled, turning her head towards him, her nose brushing his jaw.

Her nose tickled him a little, and he chuckled. “If you don’t mind, actually, some lemonade would be great.” They’d picked up a few unusually-flavored ones at a local market that weekend, and Six was curious to try one.

The droids didn’t stay in the desert long. Soon, they were picked up by the hooded, chattery Jawas, and Six remained as puzzled as he’d been the first time he saw the scavenging aliens. Why were their hoods so dark, with only the glow of their eyes visible? Some of the human characters wore hoods, but their faces could still be seen. It was more than a little disturbing.

He did smile when the droid comrades were reunited, though. “Seems they really do care about each other.”

"Sure." She chuckled, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek before hopping up from the couch. When she came back, she handed him the raspberry lemonade and slipped onto the couch next to him. Snuggling close to his side, she grinned and leaned her head against his shoulder.

"Yeah, they do." She chuckled, sneaking her arm around his as she watched the screen. "They bicker and tease and snipe at each other, but they actually are good friends." She’d always loved that about the duo’s relationship. They could jab at each other, fight and squabble, but in the end they’d take risks for each other. That was friendship.

She considered it with a soft hum, watching the screen as she picked a couple of pieces of popcorn. A sudden smile pulled at her lips and her eyes came back to his. “Maybe you could work on something like that holographic messaging system, hm? You’d blow FaceTime and Google Talk out of the water.” She laughed.

Six, who had been thinking more along the lines of weapons, was surprised - and intrigued. “I hadn’t thought of that. Yes … I suppose I could make something similar to that. It wouldn’t be that different from the technology I use for the disguise watch.”

He shrugged. “The tricky part wouldn’t just be making it, but making it affordable. There’s a lot of technology out there that hasn’t caught on, simply because it’s so expensive to produce.”

"Hm…true…" She made a thoughtful sound, leaning against him again as she munched another bit of popcorn.

"I guess you’ll just have to make a light-saber then." A grin flashed across her lips and she glanced at him again.

He grinned back at her. “Now that, I really could do. I’ve already made some weapons similar to it. Remember the laser-scythe Violet uses?”

Six tried not to sound smug, but the scythe and weapons like it were some of his proudest creations. He’d been able to do one better than the Jedi, and customize shape as well as color.

The couple watched as the two droids escaped (and Six reflected that, if the Imperials had simply blown up that escape pod to be on the safe side, the whole story would have ended then and there), and then as they landed on the hostile desert world of Tattooine. The blue man had never been to a real desert before, and he whispered, “Just looking at that place makes me thirsty.”

"Mmm, yeah, I remember." She grinned, snuggling up to his side.

As they watched the droids make there way over the sand dunes, she couldn’t help thinking that it looked like a nice place to roll around.
